POMINI Long Rolling Mills assigned an additional project by GPH Ispat Ltd., Bangladesh
In 2016, GPH Ispat Ltd. ordered to Primetals Technologies a minimill based on the WinLink Flex technology and with a total annual capacity of 815,000 metric tons of finished long products and billets. The WinLink minimill, installed and commissioned in Chittagong, Bangladesh, comprises a Quantum electric arc furnace, a ladle furnace, a three-strand, high-speed continuous billet caster, and a rolling mill. The rolling mill for bars and sections was engineered, manufactured and installed by Primetals Technology Italy, the predecessor of POMINI Long Rolling Mills. Fit with twenty Red Ring Series 5 stands, including horizontal, vertical, convertible and universal stands, the rolling mill can be run in single or two-slit rolling mode.
As an amendment to the original contract, GPH has recently commissioned to POMINI Long Rolling Mills and Primetals Technologies the integration of a re-heating furnace in the WinLink plant. The project scope of POMINI Long Rolling Mills includes the design, manufacture and installation of the cold-charge area, the adaptation of the exit area of the billet turnover cooling bed, the motorized roller table from the exit of the furnace to the rolling mill, an emergency hot-out in case of defective billets. The automation will be integrated by POMINI Long Rolling Mills in the existing L1 and L2 automation layouts.
